Ingredients

  • 8 vine-ripened tomatoes, washed and sliced
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves, chopped (buy a plant!)
  • Aged balsamic vinegar
  • Peppercorns to grind
  • Finely ground sea salt, optional

 

Method

Step 1

On 8 salad plates, alternate tomato and cheese slices, using an entire tomato for each plate. Sprinkle basil leaves over, then drizzle balsamic vinegar over all. Grind pepper over tops, sprinkle with salt if desired. Serves 8.
