This savory and a little sweet meal from the South is oh so tasty!
Ingredients
Chicken:
In a large bowl, place chicken. Pour buttermilk and Sriracha over the top and mix well. Place in refrigerator for 30 minutes. In shallow plate, mix flour, salt, cayenne, garlic powder and black pepper. Blend well. Drain a piece of chicken and dredge in flour mixture. Return to the buttermilk and dip. Return to flour and dredge again. Place on a clean plate until all the chicken pieces have been coated. Preheat the Ninja Air Fryer for five minutes. Air fry all the chicken at 375 air fry mode for 25-25 minutes. Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix the maple syrup and two mustards. Set aside until ready to serve. This will be drizzled over the chicken placed on top of a waffle. Savory Waffles:
In a large bowl, stir the flour, brown sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, pepper and garlic.
In a smaller bowl, whisk the eggs. Then add them to the flour mixture along with the melted butter and buttermilk. Stir until blended but still lumpy.
Add the chopped bacon, cheddar cheese and scallions. Blend well. Lightly grease the waffle iron (I used a miniature one in the video) with cooking spray. Pour in about 1/4 - 1/3 cup batter and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. Repeat until all batter is gone. Keep waffles in warm oven or covered with foil to keep warm. SERVE!
On a dinner plate, arrange a waffle and piece of chicken and drizzle the maple mustard sauce over the top. Garnish with a slice of avocado and tomato. Enjoy!Method
